Call for participation

The EAAE Annual conference will be preceded by a self-organized student’s program with a student-led workshop „Course X.“

Objective:

Conceptualizing an “ideal” course, the workshop will take an analytical dive into the skills and knowledge obtained by students of architecture, methodologies of their transmission and its relation and relevance to the spirit of time and an overall position of the architectural discipline today.

Introspective exercises will address the question of „how an individual acquires knowledge in life “. Through self-analysis of our own educational experiences, both within and outside academic institutions, the idea of accumulation of knowledge and mastery will be pushed to a broader existential level. Mapping out methods and techniques of acquiring knowledge and skills through „hidden schools“, the workshop will analyse their relation to institutionalized education and strategize its potential integration.

Setting:

The workshop is open for any student of architecture. Assistants, professors and other architects working in educational spheres are also welcomed.

The workshop will run over the course of 4 days (August 25-28, 2019), at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb.

The 3 days preceding the conference will be dedicated to analysis and concept development - in smaller groups and in a semi-formal setting, based on a horizontal approach and free environment. The results will be presented on the fourth day, as a part the regular program of the conference.

The participants of the workshop are also welcomed to attend open sessions of the conference.

The accommodation and lunch for the 4 days of the workshop are covered by the organizer. There are no participation fees for attending the workshop.
